Sprinter Chris Goes the Distance

Chris Stone, thrower, sprinter, photographer and wife of master blogger Ken has just completed an endurance challenge. Chris walked 60 miles to raise money for the Susan. G. Komen breast-cancer fight. It was a 3-Day Walk along the coast of her home city, San Diego.

Chris showed real grit battling through tiredness, cramping leg muscles, blisters and a strained knee. But great weather, beautiful scenery and wonderful community support along the way kept her spirits high. Plus, believing in the cause, walking for a cure, lightened her load.

Chris expressed it so well, “Cancer Sucks! We walked alongside many survivors (some who were still undergoing treatment) and, of course, we were all potential targets and survivors. Many were younger than 50 – the recommended age for the first mammogram. Breast cancer robs too many people of mothers, spouses, daughters, cousins, sisters and friends. Everyone deserves a lifetime!”

Well done Chris, rest those aching feet and enjoy your thanksgiving. Thanks for taking on the challenge!

  1. Great job Chris. So many of us know someone who’s had breast cancer. And that sucks!
