Happy New Year!

May we run strong, fast, free, happy and together in 2010!

Gotta love running sisterhood. Lornah Kiplagat is a champion runner. Winning world titles and big city marathons. She overcame poverty and sexist attitudes. In this Times interview Lornah tells how some of her Kenyan male training partners expected the women runners to cook for them, wash their clothes and clean their shoes. This wasn’t 1895 but 1995. Amazing!

Now Lorna’s got a high altitude training center and her own foundation. She’s sending Kenyan girls to the best schools in America and Europe. Giving girls sporting and academic opportunities. Her foundation is setting up a girls boarding school and tackling the issue of HIV. “I feel that the immense problems in Kenya can only be tackled through education.”

What a woman.
